Student Leadership

Student-led Choir Council

The Marshall Choir Council offers students the opportunity to gain leadership experience, and promote the performing arts department within the school and the community. These student leaders are to help in the day-to-day operations of the choir program. Each of these officers will be elected by an application process.

A Capella

Join Noteworthy!

Noteworthy is an auditioned extracurricular mixed a cappella group. This student-led group performs arrangements of contemporary songs at most chorus concerts. Students do not have to enrolled in a primary ensemble to be eligible to audition for Noteworthy. Auditions take place at the beginning of each school year and consist of a solo audition and group callbacks.

Tri-M Music Honor Society

In a phrase, perform, lead, and serve.

A Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter opens up a world of opportunities for students who have already shown themselves to be academically capable and musically gifted. Through performance and community service, they’ll develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, and a host of other leadership skills sure to serve them well in school and beyond.

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

All District Chorus

District Chorus is an audition-based enrichment opportunity for students in the choral program. There is an audition required which usually takes place on a Saturday (November).  The audition consists of a required prepared selection and sight-reading.  All students who audition will be scored through “blind audition” by a pair of judges. Those with the top scores in each section will then be selected to participate in the actual event to be held later in the year. 9th and 10th grade sopranos and altos are selected for the Treble Chorus. 11th & 12 grade sopranos and altos and all tenors and basses are selected for the Mixed Chorus. Students who audition are expected to attend the event if accepted (February).  Rehearsals take place on a Thursday evening, Friday during the school day and Saturday morning with a culminating performance Saturday afternoon.  Students selected will receive a set of music to prepare for the event. Guest conductors are hired to direct each of the choirs.  Students in Advanced level ensembles are required to audition. Both audition fees and participation fees apply.
